John Mayer and Katy Perry are obviously both unlucky in love. After gushing about how much they loved one another and were convinced their relationship was it, they fell apart. It is all rather sudden considering on Valentine’s Day it was rumored John popped the marriage question and Katy was sporting a ring. Fast forward a week and the two are kaput. What happened?
Well John and Katy are not saying. They are keeping this part of their relationship to themselves. Maybe they will write a song about it. That could take a while so in the meantime the rumor mill is running rampant. There are various theories circulating that explain why the two broke up just when things seemed to be going so right. Let’s explore them, shall we?
Theory number 1—He cheated. John Mayer seems to be a bit of a serial dater so it is easy to assume he forgot the process of breaking up with his current girlfriend before moving on to the next one. But, other sources insist Katy and John were “on a break” when he flirted, kissed and texted another woman. We all know how well that goes over. Insiders say Katy wasn’t sure she could trust John and was always worried he would eventually end up cheating on her.
Theory number 2-Katy partied too much. Other sources say John couldn’t deal with all of Katy’s partying. The insiders insist Katy acted far too immature when she drank and that irritated her more refined boyfriend.
Theory number 3-He is too old. John Mayer is 7 years older than Katy Perry and the age difference did matter. He was ready to chill and sit at home, while she was ready to get out and live life to the fullest. She is at the top of her game right now and is clearly enjoying every ounce of her success, which includes lots of time out and about attending one event after another.
Theory number 4-Katy’s career drove them apart. Katy is on her Prismatic tour and is rarely in the same country for more than a few nights. This was obviously a strain on her relationship with John, but she was not about to give up everything she worked so hard for to make a man happy. She is a strong, independent woman (hear her roar) and she is very dedicated to her job.
Theory number 5-Katy teased the media with those silly engagement rings much to John’s embarrassment. Apparently, he didn’t like Katy’s little joke and it “drove him away.” John doesn’t seem like the marrying type and those rings were like kryptonite for the guy who has dated a long list of Hollywood ladies.
Theory number 6-Katy and John grew apart. This is probably the most obvious theory. Like so many couples, John and Katy realized they were not right for each other. One source says Katy has been struggling with the relationship and has felt for some time that the relationship wasn’t “quite right.” Now that she is single and free she feels as if a huge weight has been lifted off of her shoulders.
