Apple Watch Sets The Standard For Detecting Douchebags

UDouche-- What seems as if should have been on Saturday Night Live or Funny or Die, Apple released the big news on their highly anticipated smartwatch. Only days ago at their annual event Apple showcased 3 separate versions that are soon to be available in over 700 different countries worldwide. The Watch Sport, Watch & Watch Edition are the names given to the three models, the Watch Edition is the one that is grabbing all the headlines, and not for all the right reasons.

The Gold Apple Watch Edition retails for an astounding $10,000 and it doesn't stop there sadly. Those that are wanting to add a thicker leather band and about $50 worth of parts for a display upgrade, then add $2,000 to the cost of the watch. O but wait it keeps adding up, there is then the $3,000 plastic to leather watchband upgrade, then the $2,000 for the buckle upgrade and also tack on the extended 3 year warranty.

Considering the lifespan of the watches battery is at about 5 years, you can see why articles are being written and lot’s of tweets(assuming mems too) have been written. Academy Award winner Anna Kendrick said it best with the following tweet,

We should be thanking Apple for launching the $10,000 "apple watch" as the new gold standard in douchebag detection.”

There was an early word that Apple was going to make an expensive version of their new watch, but there weren't many who assumed it was going to be priced as such. With no noticeable difference besides the gold plating, i’m sure it won't be long until a gold wrap or paint will come out to give it the same look for a ridiculous amount of money saved.

@thelanceArthur tweeted,

“Was totally gonna buy an Apple WATCH Edition, but I think now I’m just gonna buy 7 new gold MacBooks and wear them as a necklace.”

Philip DeFranco, YouTubes funny man also had a tweet,

“I feel like the only people buying the apple watch edition for $10k are the same people who say "peasants" to describe the less fortunate”

Hopefully a few generations down in wearables on all platforms will do just that, work on all platforms. I know this isn’t practical in some viewpoints, but it would allow the best products to become available to all, no matter who manufactures it. The Apple Watch will have buyers, but I think it’s safe to say the two lower models are going to outsell the Watch Edition by a longshot.
