The couple that tours together, stays together or at least Beyonce and Jay-Z say so. The musical power couple has had successful tours on their own and now they are going to combine forces to really shake things up. Looks like Kanye West will have to find another touring buddy. Clearly, Jay’s wife is a much more appealing traveling companion than Kanye. This is sure to be an epic, but rather brief tour.
On Monday, April 28, Jay-Z and Beyonce announced the big news they were going to be hitting the road together for the “On The Run” tour. They have scheduled 16 cities for the tour that will last throughout the summer. While it isn’t a big, fancy world tour, it is still going to be one of the hottest tickets of the year. The two have collaborated on music in the past and each time, the couple prove just how powerful they are. Recently, Beyonce broke out of her Destiny’s Child mold and took a little walk on the wild side with her hubby by her side. Her “Drunk In Love” single irritated some fans because it was a little edgier than they were used to coming from Queen Bey, but it still rocked the charts and landed at number one.
Jay-Z added a bit of a rough edge to the single and their performance at the Grammy’s this year really heated things up. That is just a glimpse of what is likely to come on the highly anticipated tour. Bey and Jay have been collaborating together for nearly a decade and probably have a few songs that never saw the light of day hidden up their sleeves. They do like to surprise their fan as is evident with this latest tour announcement and Beyonce’s surprise album drop.
Tickets go on sale this Friday, May 2. Fans can feel good about spending their hard earned cash on the tickets because one dollar from every ticket will go to the Shawn Carter Foundation. The foundation helps kids who would otherwise be unable to afford college the chance to get an education. Beyonce is also getting in on the charity action and using her #BeyGOOD campaign to promote charitable acts and community involvement.
The first tour date will be in Miami on June 25th. The 6-week tour will wrap up in San Francisco on August 5. It is going to be a very busy summer for the power couple. Jay-Z recently announced his “Made In America” festival will be in 2 cities simultaneously over Labor Day weekend. The festival will be held in Philadelphia and Los Angeles, which give fans on each side of the country the chance to attend. Jay-Z is rumored to be performing at the Los Angeles event. Beyonce has performed at the music festival in the past and will likely be lending her name to the lineup although nobody has been confirmed as of yet. Tickets are already selling for $125 for that event.
The media moguls know how to do business and are reinstating their position at the top of the music world.
