When it comes to reading everyone has different tastes. Some people like to read only fantasy/science fiction books while others prefer crime novels and each person is right in their choices. There are however, a few books this writer believes everyone should read before they die.
To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee – Okay so this might have been on your summer reading list for school but don’t write it off just yet. This book has a cast of characters so unique and awe inspiring that, even though your teachers require you to read it, you can’t help but love it.
Charlotte’s Web by E.B. White – Fear of spiders or not this heartwarming book is a must. The tale of a would-be slaughtered pig and his best friend, Charlotte the spider who lives in the barn with Wilbur the pig. This story teaches readers that friends come in all shapes and sizes and that one special friend can truly change your life.
The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks – This one might be geared more towards the ladies but you will not find a more romantic book to introduce to your reading collection. Don’t go by the movie, read this incredibly inspiring book but be warned you will have a misconception of what relationships are really like.
The Fault In Our Stars by John Green – Grab that box of tissues because you are going to need it. Although geared toward young adults this book is an incredibly sad and romantic story about young love. It does not matter how old you are, if you’re above the age of 13, you are going to love this book. This writer could not put it down and you will see why. This is absolutely a must read.
The Lovely Bones by Alice Seabold – This chilling tale of one young girl’s untimely death and her desperation to help her family both move on and find her killer is one not to miss. Please we beg of you do not base your opinion of this incredibly well written story on the movie. The book draws you in from the very first sentence and doesn’t let go until you’ve reached the final one.
Harry Potter series by JK Rowling – Do these books really need an explanation as to why you must read them before you die? Just take a look at the franchise as a whole and there’s your explanation.
Little Women by Louisa M. Alcott – This classic story is one that every American should read at some point in their lives. It is a wonderfully warmhearted story that shows the power of love, friendship and most of all family.
