Jenny McCarthy has a bit of a different sense of humor than some of other daytime television personalities. Despite being an incredibly funny woman, she also has a serious side, kind of. She thought she would put her more serious, grown-up side on for a try and landed a job as one of the ladies on The View. In fact, she replaced the other blonde, Elisabeth Hasselbeck who set off for greener pastures after viewers of The View decided her opinions were way too conservative. Hasselbeck sat on the panel for 10 long years, but people could only take so much of her.
But apparently, Elisabeth Hasselbeck isn’t the only blonde who rubs people the wrong way. A source reports, “ABC has begun doing deep research on Jenny's work on the show and the initial findings are that viewers want to tune out the second she opens her mouth!” Well that is certainly not very nice. How can she be any worse than the very one-sided and way over-opinionated Hasselbeck? Not to mention, Jenny McCarthy has only been on the show for a month. It seems a little too early to already decide to pull the plug on her.
The source explains, “The data has revealed that she is far more off-putting than Elisabeth.” The final say in whether or not Jenny McCarthy gets to keep her new respectable job as a voice on The View will be up to Barbara Walters. She is the queen bee and whatever she says goes. She let Hasselbeck stay on there forever despite her tendency to get on every last nerve of viewers and the other ladies on the panel. Fortunately, the 84-year-old media maven is not jumping the gun quite yet. But the source does say she, “isn’t looking for a replacement for Jenny yet.” However, “She is obsessed with ratings and the longevity of the show, so Jenny needs to turn it around or she will be gone.” Rawr!
Can the 40-year-old former Playboy model figure out a way to be less irritating? The insider reveals the bigwigs on the show are trying to “adjust Jenny’s performance” on the show. It isn’t clear if she has a one year contract or the extended two-year contract. It doesn’t matter. If Barbara Walters wants her gone, it will happen contract or not. If there is a mass exodus in viewership, producers will fork out the cash to let Jenny go rather than continue to let her stay on the panel and further alienate viewers.
So, all of this sounds pretty bad for Jenny McCarthy’s future, but hold on a second! The site known for busting rumors, Gossip Cop, talked with an actual person at ABC who completely debunked the story and says there “is no truth to the story.” Hmm, who do your believe? Usually, where there is smoke there is fire. Time will tell who was telling the truth in this situation. Right now, the numbers do not support the story. There is barely a slip in the ratings from last year at this time to this year. People hate change and are still trying to figure out if they like it or not.
