Kirstie Alley is making another bid for a hit television show. She has tried repeatedly over the years since Cheers ended along with her film career. After a successful comeback as a contestant on Dancing With the Stars, she is working her way around the talk shows to promote, Kirstie. As usual, the outspoken lady has plenty to say about her past, John Travolta and former friend, Leah Remini while chatting with Howard Stern.
Speaking of the latter, Kirstie Alley is not a fan of Leah Remini in any way, shape or form. She clearly despises her and doesn’t care who knows. You may remember Leah left the church of Scientology this summer. A church that Kirstie is a member of and has devoted a lot of time and money to. As did Leah, but she was able to see through some of the freakish nature of the group and left. Unfortunately, she didn’t go away quietly and publicly denounced the group, which irked Kirstie.
When asked about the situation, Kirstie Alley was pretty blunt about her opinion of her former friend, “When you decide to blanket statement that Scientology is evil, you are my enemy.” She also called Leah a “bigot” because of the things she said about the religion. She likened it to hating all Jewish people. She does have a bit of a point, but Scientology is very cult like no matter how you cut it. Kirstie made sure she pointed out that plenty of other people have left Scientology and suffered no consequences.
So, Kirstie Alley hates Leah Remini. Big deal. Another celebrity feud. But, there is one thing she loves besides food and grape soda. She admits that she fell in love with cocaine the first time she tried it. She says, “Oh my God! I’m gonna do this every day for the rest of my life!” She battled her drug addiction and has since kicked the habit, but during her drug-fueled years she admits she made a lot of mistakes. She says she was “crazy” during her heyday in the cocaine world.
One of the reasons she is so devoted to Scientology is because she associates it with saving her from her cocaine addiction. She was sold when she drove by a Scientology building and saw Porches and Mercedes in front of the building for the church and quickly realized she wanted that too. A friend gave Kirstie the Dianetics book which she read while snorting coke. Despite her hazy, drug intoxicated state, she was ready for a change and joined. Her mother saw the church for what it was and told Kirstie it was a cult, but she scoffed at the idea and stuck with it.
In the lengthy interview, Kirstie Alley opened up about her struggles with her weight and her love for John Travolta. She has said time and again she loves him, but he is married to Kelly Preston who is ready to throw down if Kirstie flirts with him too much. Kirstie laughs and reveals for a while there, there was some tension between Kelly, John and Kirstie but now they are all great friends after Kelly let Kirstie know what was up. Rawr!
