MUFC-- With just 7 games left to play, Manchester United's win against Aston Villa was just one more step in securing a top four finish in this years EPL race. This games was in the favor of Manchester United for much of the entirety of the match, although the score times may have some thinking it was a closer game than it actually was.
The finishing score was with Manchester United winning at home to a score of 3-1, Rooney, Herrera & Villas Benteke were the goalscorers. Manchester United and England skipper Wayne Rooney had a beautiful goal assisted by record signing Angel Di Maria. The pass was a little behind Rooney, but with great control he trapped the ball and turned around with a whipping shot to find the top left corner of the goalposts.
However it was Andre Herrera who was my player of the match, scoring 2 goals and completing an incredible 96 out of 100 passes, most of them coming in the finale ⅓ of the pitch. Herrera opening up the scoring just before halftime in the 43rd minute while capturing his second a minute into overtime. Benteke scored for Aston Villa, but to be honest David De Gea should have made the save as the ball slipped right under him.
Taking a look at the stateline it is easy to see why the Red Devils pulled off the 3 points at home, besides the obvious that they are just a better team on paper.
MUFC- 3 (W)
Manchester United face off against one of their many rivals, Manchester City. Winner of the game will most likely finish above the other in a fight for 2nd place, though Arsenal too are in that battle in which Manchester united play them the second game to the last. While the Red Devils looked to have secured a top 4 finish this year, last year they only managed to finish in 7th place. The difference has been confidence and belief, something LVG has plenty of while Moyes is lacking in both.
