MUFC-- The game could have gone a few different ways but in the end Manchester United capitalized on a late error by Newcastles goalkeeper Tim Krul. The time of possession favored the visitors and head coach of the red devils Louis Van Gaal showed signs of emotion when seen screaming with happiness in assistant coach Ryan Giggs face after Ashley Young took composure and slotted in the goal from Tim Krul’s bad pass.
Wayne Rooney’s pressure caused the series of events that took place for the goal to happen as he stormed for the right side of the box, but Ashley Young had been sitting just inside of the top of the box giving him the perfect position to take advantage of the left side of the goal.
However there were more than a few chances for Newcastle to take the lead early in the game and even tie it after United's goal. The red devils are still looking shaky when going forward and Angel Di Marias substitution during the second half shows the mega signing hasn't settled into the English Premier League just yet. There were a few times the Argentine ran forward to only lose it and put the Manchester United defence in a scamper to stop Newcastle counter attack.
There was some controversy earlier in the game with Chris Smalling how obviously i=mistimed his tackle with Emmanuel Riviere inside the box, but a plea for against the away team was denied. Fabricio Coloccini had a header denied late in the second half by Manchester Uniteds Goalkeeper David De Gea, in recent weeks the spaniard had been in question with his motivation and speculation of him moving to Real Madrid.
Next up for Manchester United is a real test against rivals Arsenal in the FA cup, both teams will be looking to add some silverware this year while Arsenal is looking to defend as last years champions of the tournament. Winner of the match will also gain the confidence that may make the difference in their meeting towards the end of the season, one that may decided who get’s a Champions League spot.
