Fans who are anxiously awaiting the film version of the 50 Shades of Grey book have been getting little glimpses of Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson in character. We have seen Dakota, as Anastasia Steele get a pretty new car courtesy of her lover, Christian Grey. Fans have also got a glimpse of the hardware store where Anastasia works. So far, all of the scenes that have been caught by paparazzi have been rather G-rated and kind of blah. But, a new teaser poster for the film has finally been released and it is sending ladies’ hearts racing.
A simplistic picture of Jamie Dornan staring out at a Seattle skyline is rather exciting. The stark white picture is broken up by Jamie or Christian, standing with his feet apart and his hands in the pockets of his all black ensemble. The caption across the top read, “Mr. Grey will see you now.” It isn’t a lot, but for fans who are doing their very best to wait for something a little more exciting, it is enough. Visualizing the kinky male lead is one thing, seeing him come to life on film is another.
The billboard picture follows the excitement of seeing Christian Grey picking out his little toys at Anastasia’s hardware store. Ropes and cable ties were on his list and she was so kind to help him out. Scenes for that portion of the book were filmed earlier this week, which sent the internet into overdrive as fans imagined the sex scenes that are sure to come. It seems like an impossible amount of time to wait. On the new billboard, the release date of Valentine’s Day 2015 seems too far away to even consider.
Fortunately, the official Twitter handle for the film is loaded with images from the shoots. It is a little overkill, but those who are obsessed and simply can’t wait will appreciate every little shot. It is also a good way to help those who are still a little hesitant about Dakota Johnson stepping into the role as they try to imagine her as Anastasia. Jamie Dornan seems to have his part nailed, but time will tell.
There have been rumors of trouble on set, which left some fans a little worried the film would never come to fruition. Rumors E.L. James, the author of the book, and director, Sam Taylor-Johnson were feuding over the direction of the film have been rife. Apparently, the director isn’t sticking exactly to the book. Considering the book relied pretty heavily on the sex, coming up with material that supports an actual film is going to be tough. The two attempted to put the rumors to rest by tweeting a loved-up photo of them with their hands balled into fists.
No film has ever followed a book to the letter. Reading about what people are doing and actually watching it are very different. Feuds are pretty common as well, but everybody wants this project to get done. All there is to do now is to wait for the first official trailers to start trickling out.
