NFL-- The regular NFL season is over and it’s time to fire coaches, hire new ones, drop players and look towards next years NFL draft and free agent market. The Denver Broncos have been quick this offseason as they parted ways with John Fox who went to Chicago and hired Gary Kubiak who is coming from being the offensive coordinator for the Baltimore Ravens to being the head coach of the Denver Broncos.
WIth this move it has raised eyebrows in the sports community, with questions as to why he was given this opportunity after have an unsuccessful stint as the head coach of the Houston Texans from 2006 through 2013. Some speculate it as an unfair advantage to minorities, but I think there is a bit more to this than pointing fingers and “assuming” such notions.
Gary Kubiak is known in the Denver organization as he was the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach from 1995 to 2002 and just the offensive coordinator from 2003 to 2005 before becoming the head coach of the Houston Texans. This gives a hint that Gary Kubiak may be the best suited candidate to get the most out of an aging Peyton Manning in the same sense as he did from John Elway.
Not only did he have success as a coach for the Denver Broncos, but he also played as a player of the same organization and winning 3 AFC Championships between 1983 through 1991. It can be argued that he has just as much love for this organization as the legendary John Elway, but it seems none of this has been taken into account by most of the mainstream sports media.
Organizations love to bring in “one of their own” and this is no different, sure Gary Kubiak hasn't had that much success with other teams, but he seems to be on the same page with his home team, the Denver Broncos. Realistically Peyton Manning is almost a guarantee for coming back and Kubiak won’t be calling to many plays as that is Peytons forte.Gary Kubiak looks to be that veteran voice that could help when the going gets tough, as it seemed John Fox wasn't quite up to par in doing this for the future hall of famer, Peyton Manning.
